A VINTAGE-INSPIRED GAL SITS IN A CLASSIC CAR AT FIFE’S CAR SHOW JUNE 27.

After four years, “Walt’s Family Affair” is still strong as ever.

The annual vintage car show, co-hosted by Walt’s Auto Care Center and the city of Fife, took place at Dacca Park  June 27. The dry sky and warm weather attracted car enthusiasts from around the state, vendors and food booths, as well as 106 vintage vehicles. Similar to past years, show organizers gave away awards to participants with the best-looking cars. Fife Mayor Pro Tem Rob Cerqui handed out the Mayor’s Award on behalf of Mayor Barry Johnson, who could not make it to the event. Cerqui said the 1967 Mustang Shelby GT 500 was chosen for the award based on its originality.

“There was also a lot of information about the car on a sandwich board out in front,” Cerqui said. “It’s always so tough to pick for this award.”

Owners of street rods, classics, customs, antiques and Harleys were all invited to participate in the show, as well as car care vendors and food booth operators.

Many locals chose to return to the event again this year. “Goodnight my Sweetheart” by the Spaniels played over the speakers and helped to set the vintage mood of the event.

Fife resident Sheran Thomas and her grandson, 4-year-old Raymond Vaughn, enjoyed the sights and sounds of the classic cars. Thomas said this was Raymond’s second year attending the car show.

“Last year he went with grandpa. This year, it was grandma’s turn,” Thomas said. “He loves the cars. He’s been fascinated with them from the time he started talking.”
