The Fife City Council ap-pointed Glenn Hull to take the council seat left vacant by former Councilmember Kory Edwards.
Hull is a mortgage broker and moved to the city two and a half years ago. He and his wife moved to the area from Missouri, and Hull said that has influenced his point of view.
“I have Midwestern values,” he said. “I’ll be a council member who speaks my mind with honesty and integrity.”
He said he decided to apply for the position because he and his wife are expecting their first child, and he felt it was time to address the issues that would affect his family and the community as a whole.
“I just felt it was time to stop standing in the shadows,” he said. “I’ve always been intrigued by city government.”
Hull’s main concern in Fife is the recent growth in the area, and especially in Fife.
“The Puget Sound area wasn’t ready for all those people,” he said. “I want to make sure Fife is able to grow at a good pace and also a smart pace.”
He is also concerned about transportation and parks and recreation. Hull is the first resident of the Radiance development to sit on the city council, and the new council member said it was a goal of his to make that neighborhood more a part of the Fife community.
The city council interviewed nine applicants for the open position.
Hull was sworn in Feb. 12. He will remain in the position through Edwards’ term, which expires at the end of 2009.
